We are sorry

In a few hours, the trees growing in the bushy area along Fitzsimons Lane will be cut down. They will be chopped, mulched, perhaps turned into benches, or transformed into different kinds of habitat for local creatures. Smaller plants - from Bursaria to lilies and various grasses - will also seek their final rays of sunlight. Who knows what creatures use that place - we haven't seen an environmental report, let alone a management strategy. We know about some of the birds, possums, insects, spiders... but certainly not all. Does anyone?

This extensive and tragically unnecessary destruction is occurring despite the community's ongoing and extensive efforts to activate a different process and appropriate outcome through countless phone calls, letters, extensive analysis and reports, alternative plans, petitions, protests, conversations and more.

The community has been silenced. And so will life on the bushy rise...

But this is not where we stop. We will keep working hard to generate positive change for any future work.

We are sorry, beloved trees, for we have failed to protect you.
